My name is Monica Sistrunk, and I am the owner of Bodylicious Fitness. I am a certified Group Fitness Instructor with over 15 years experience in Group Fitness and Personal Training. I am also certified in Zumba, Zumba Toning, and Zumbatomic.
My love for fitness developed at a very early age. When I was about 10 years old I became interested in the popular morning show 20-minute workout. I was fascinated by the women in their leotards and their leg warmers doing what is called aerobics. I would get up every morning at 5:30am to join them. As the aerobic trend continued to grow so did my love and admiration for aerobics.
Over the years I have taught multiple aerobic classes including, Step, Reebok slide, spin, body blast, Turbokick, Kickboxing, and most recently Zumba! Of all the classes I have taught I find Zumba to be the most enjoyable. Zumba has captivated an audience like no other exercise I have ever done. It takes the work, out of workout. Zumba is fun, flirty, exciting, enjoyable, and exhilarating. I first got hooked on Zumba in 2006 when I attended a Zumba class taught by the infamous Zumba Education Specialist (ZES) Tony Witt. I became certified shortly after and have never looked back.
I began teaching Zumba at a local fitness club in 2007. My classes immediately became jammed packed with Zumba lovers who just couldn’t get enough. Since then Zumba has grown exponentially now boasting its own clothing line, video game, magazine, and become a global party sensation. With the growth of my classes and the Zumba phenomenon sweeping the nation, I decided to open my own fitness studio teaching Zumba classes. In July 2010 I opened Bodylicious Fitness in an 800 square foot studio. Almost immediately I grew out of that studio and had to move to a bigger studio. In April 2011 I opened my current location at 7540 Leavenworth Rd. Kansas City KS. Check out my current class schedule and drop in for a class anytime. Hope to see you soon.
My name is Monica Nguyen and I have been teaching Zumba since the summer of 2005. I fell in love with Zumba first as a student and then later decided to put my passion for Latin dance to use and became a certified instructor. Prior to teaching Zumba, I was a cheerleader/dancer throughout high school and into college. Raised in large part by a Hispanic mother, there was always Latin music playing in our household. I grew up listening to salsas, merengues, and bachatas. My favorite dance rhythms are hip-hop, salsa, and samba. My classes showcase a wide variety of music and dance styles that are jam packed with fun and energy.
I love what Zumba does for the mind, body and soul. I have lost approximately 25 pounds and have kept it off since starting the Zumba program. It brings me great joy to see my students transforming right in front of me, as well. I create a safe, unintimidating, enjoyable environment where you can have a blast, all while getting a great workout! Come shake your booty with me and learn a few sexy dance moves! I guarantee you’ll get a good sweat!
